Obituary of Debra Gale Stone

Debra Gail Fox was born on April 29, 1958 to parents Dick and Mary Fox. The day Deb was born, Mary was taken to the Spirit River Hospital in the back of a grain truck. Mrs. Van Norel, with midwife experience, went along and fed Mary peppermints in hopes to make it to the hospital before Dick and Mary's first born arrived. During her teen years, Deb formed a curling team with Janet, Melvin and Kenny. They called themselves 'The Flunkies'. They lost every game, but they had a lot of fun. Those bonds between cousins served Deb well, it allowed her and Tim to practice being grandparents to Melvin and Raquel's children; Jesse, Aaron and Marie. Deb enjoyed her time with those three little souls very much. On December 12, 1978 Deb went on a date with Timothy Stone. Several days later, when Deb came home from Christmas break, she had determined that if he called her on Christmas Day, she would marry him. Tim however was completely unaware of how important dialing the phone was that day. On February 15, 1979, Tim proposed and on August 11, 1979 they were married. Deb and Tim had four children; David was born in May of 1982, Rachelle in February of 1985, Garth in August of 1986, and Glenn arrived in January of 1988. They also had two grandchildren born in November of 2011, welcoming Ezra on the 21st, and Eli on the 24th. Deb took her schooling seriously; she was the top of her class all throughout grade school, and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class. She became a teacher after receiving her Bachelor of Education in 1980. Recently, Deb was given a 30 year service award from the Peace Wapiti School Division. Deb loved her community so much, she never went far from it. She raised her family 5 miles from where she grew up, she graduated from Savanna School, had her wedding reception there, and worked there for the majority of her teaching career. The essentials of Deb's life were her family, her community and her career. Deb was predeceased by her father Dick Fox in January of 2010. She leaves behind her loving immediate family: husband Tim, children; David (Alison), Rachelle, Garth (Misty), their son Eli, Glenn (Julie), their son Ezra, her mother Mary, siblings; Janet (Robin), Kathy (Trent), Virginia (Howard) and Josh (Lily). As well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, students, colleagues and community members. Deb passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 55 years. A private family interment was held in the Alexview Cemetery. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm Alberta time at the Savanna School, Silver Valley, Alberta. Pastor Floyd Anderson officiated.
