Obituary of Clifford William Pearson

Clifford Pearson, a lifelong resident of Doe River, B.C., passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 in Dawson Creek at the age of 81 years. Clifford Pearson was born on September 19, 1932 in Doe River, Alberta. Clifford homesteaded and worked in the logging industry in East Doe River, where he grew up as a child. A few years ago he had the great opportunity to purchase his grandfather, John Albright's homestead in Doe River. This was one of his greatest joys, as he wanted that land to stay in the family. It will be thanks to Glynn Evans, who purchased the land from Clifford. He never strayed far from the farm, he lived a simple life in Doe River where he had many friends and family to be around. Clifford enjoyed all the Doe River get-togethers whether it be a rodeo, reunion or fall dinners at the hall. Anytime someone else was cooking, he was happy. He spent many a dinner around the tables of Bill and Marion Evans whom he was more like a big brother to than a cousin. He joined many of his friends and family in Doe River as well. He would make his rounds having coffee and giving everyone his advice on a number of topics. In his younger years, Clifford was a great athlete playing baseball, he was a heck of a pitcher back in the day and he played hockey to pass the time on the cold winter days. He also loved to play the guitar and sing. Even though he never married in life he loved to tease all the pretty girls from the time he was young right through to his years in the care home. When family visited, he always had big smiles when the cute little nurses would come to check on him. We will all remember him for his grumpy smile, endless jokes and teasing, and his somewhat sarcastic remarks. Clifford was a pillar in his community and was always at the functions whether he attended willingly, or was drug there by others. He loved this land, the community, his friends and family very much even if he didn't like to show it. He will be fondly remembered, loved deeply and thought of always. Clifford was predeceased by his parents Mable Tilton and Maurice Pearson, his brothers; Morris, Charlie and Melvin, and his two nephews Danny Keyes and Kerry Pearson. Clifford is survived by his sister Lenore Keyes, half sister Morine Albright, along with their families including many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Art Funk officiated, interment followed in the Peace View Cemetery, Doe River, B.C. For friends so wishing donations may be made in memory of Clifford to the Doe River Recreation Commission Playground Equipment Fund, RR#2 Site 6 Comp 16, Dawson Creek, B.C. V1G4E8.
