Obituary of Nolan Alderson

Nolan Robert Alderson was born June 23, 1942 in Loos, BC, the third child of Milly and Noble Alderson. Nolan jokingly referred to himself as a Born Looser as a result of his birth place. Noodle, as he was known by family, grew up on the banks of the Fraser River at Mile 25, until his family moved to town, so he and his siblings could attend school in McBride. Nolan started his life long career with the Ministry of Highways in his late teens, and eventually met his future wife Marie while working on the Crusher in Dawson Creek, BC. They later married and spent the first half of their marriage living in various locations throughout the Province raising their two daughters, Becky and Evelyn, before settling in Dawson Creek in 1990. Nolan loved music and spent much of his spare time honing his guitar picking skills, and it was through his love of music that Nolan and Marie became close friends with several musicians once settled in Dawson Creek. Nolan found great enjoyment with weekend jam sessions with his new musical family. Nolan loved telling stories of riding to school on horse back with his older sisters, Edith and Arlene, and family pack trips up the mountain. He had a love of animals and once retired, he bought a horse each for him and Marie, and had a foray back to his old "cowboy" ways. Nolan is predeceased by his parents Noble and Milly Alderson, and sisters Edith Littlechild and Theresa Smith. Nolan is lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, daughters Becky (Jim) Scott, and Evelyn (Brian) Link, grandchildren Kirsten Scott (Adam Roberts), Brendan (Kelsey) Scott, Neil (Becky) Link, and Chewy Link, several great-grandchildren, and siblings Arlene Lozinski and Dennis Alderson. With respect to Nolan's wishes, no service will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia, #300 - 828 West 8 Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5Z 1E2.
