Obituary of Velda McDonald

Velda McDonald a resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in the Dawson Creek Hospital surrounded by family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Velda was born in Pouce Coupe BC on August 25, 1955 to parents Lydia Larocque and Eddie Garbitt. Soon after Clarence and Patricia Renninger adopted Velda, who raised and loved her as their own. Although Velda was an only child to Pat and Clare, she had sisters; Judy, Lorraine, Melody and brother Kenny. She was raised in Tupper BC. Velda married David McDonald in February of 1980. They had two children, Rory and Patricia. Velda had five Grandchildren; Autumn, Aurora, Ariel, Anson and Ryder who she loved dearly. Velda spent 20 plus years working as a care aide. Graduating at the top of her class, Velda choose to work at Peace River Haven. The Haven soon became her second home and worked there until it closed. Velda loved to write little notes, scribbles, letters and thoughts. They were always heartfelt. Growing up Velda had many friends that became like family, Sharron and Maryann to name a couple. Just like Pat and Clare, Velda had an open door to all. She welcomed many teenagers into her home. Some stayed a short time, others longer. Velda thought of them all like her own kids, even if they wore her pink fuzzy housecoat. Veldas loving, caring nature showed in every aspect of her life. She was a giving person who found good in everyone. She will be missed by many. As Velda would say; Its not goodbye, its just a change of address! Forwarding address; Heaven. Veldas Family held a celebration of her life on Friday, March 2 2018 at the Seniors Citizens Hall in Dawson Creek, B.C. Interment will be at the later date.
