Obituary of Mable Gunter

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mable Gunter (nee Jantz), a longtime resident of Pouce Coupe, British Columbia. She passed away peacefully at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia in Prince George on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the age of 90 years.

Mable was born in Grainger, Alberta on Saturday, October 21, 1933. She was the last of 12 children born to Peter and Katharine Jantz. Over the course of her childhood Mable lived with family and friends in a number of different communities so she could have access to school.

In 1950, Mable married Byron Gunter and they settled in Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, where they raised their 6 children Gilbert, Norman (Janet), Karen, Sandra, Roger (Shelly), and Kevin (Christal). Mable was proud to have 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Mable was a sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, and she will be dearly missed.

Mable’s family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1:00pm at the Pouce Coupe Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 5009 47 Ave, Pouce Coupe, British Columbia.

For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Mable to the Pouce Coupe Royal Canadian Legion, Box 216 Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, V0C 2C0 or St. Marks Soup Kitchen & Food Bank, 1029-103 Avenue, Dawson Creek, British Columbia, V1G 2G6.
