Margot Anton Obituary

1935-2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margot Emma Anton, a longtime resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on November 28, 2023, at the age of 88 with her daughter Tina by her side.

Margot had resided at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek with vascular dementia and a brain tumor (cancer).

Predeceased by many who loved her, including her loving husband, Vasile.

Margot is survived by her adoring children Irene Gallus, Tina Strauss and Michael Anton; her beautiful grandchildren: Andre, Kirsten, Dominik, Allan, Peter and Tyler; great grandchildren Lukas, Lennis, Bastian, Max, Anja, Hayden, Dawson, Joshua and Taylor; as well as many extended family and friends.

Margot was born in Stuttgart, Germany on Thursday, May 16, 1935, to Xaver and Machtilde Zeiner. Margot lost her mom at an early age and was raised by single Dad and younger sister. Not much is

known about her early childhood and the war years.

At the age of 17 she and her daughter Irene had the travel bug to go to Australia. On route she met her future husband Vasile Anton and were engaged in Egypt. Margot and Vasile were married in Sydney, Australia where Tina was born. They lived there for a number of years until moving back to Europe where Michael was born in Germany. Shortly there after they moved to Canada, lived in Vancouver, and Granisle, BC before moving to the Peace Country. They lived out their final years in Pouce Coupe, BC.  Vasile passed away in October 2013.

Margot loved to garden, liked her roses and especially her large tomatoes.  She loved to cook for her family.  We all enjoyed her Goulash and home made spaetzle made from recipes she brought with her from the old country.

Margot adored her dog “BABY” ...a small chihuahua and her 2 cats.

Margot always enjoyed traveling and she was very proud of going to 2 Andre Rieu concerts in Vancouver with her daughter Tina and even in her last days she was listening and watching Andre Rieu videos with a smile on her face.

Margot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many and even though Margot is gone, her kind and gentle soul will not be forgotten. I held your hand and gently said "Goodbye" for the time had come to set you free.

To leave this world behind until we meet again.

FOR EVER IN OUR HEARTS!!!

ALWAYS OUR MOM
